The Basque gains positions in the general standings

Pello Bilbao wins the 10th stage of the Tour de France from Vulcania to Issoire of 167.2km. The Basque from Bahrain Victorious precedes Zimermann and O'Connor and gains valuable positions in the general standings.

The runners didn't hold back and the forwards weren't able to take such a large lead in the first half of the race. With 80 km to go in the lead is Esteban Chaves (EF) who has about 30” ahead of a group of thirteen counter-attackers including Julian Alaphilippe (Soudal Quick Step), Pello Bilbao (Bahrain Victorious), Mattias Skjelmose (Lidl Trek ), Ben O'Connor (AG2R Citroen) and Michal Kwiatkowski (Ineos Grenadiers).  

The yellow jersey group , pulled by the men of Team Jumbo Visma at a regular pace , chases after about 3'20” behind.  

Chaves was picked up by the counter-attackers about 10 km later, with the yellow jersey group remaining about 3' behind.  

From the group of attackers Krists Neilands (Israel Premier Tech) tries the solitary action , Chaves, Pello Bilbao, O'Connor, Zimmermann and Pedrero lead in his pursuit, while another group with Alaphilippe Kwiatkowski, Barguil and Skjelmose chases after 25” .  

With 3km to go, the five counter-attackers recover Neilands, while Alaphilippe's group is 20”.  

In the final sprint Pello Bilbao precedes Zimmermann and O'Connor, with a storyless sprint, earns a 10” bonus and takes fifth position in the general standings.

The yellow jersey group arrives at around 3' with Jasper Stuyven ahead of everyone in the sprint.
