Vollering for the double, Longo Borghini absent

Almost 1,000 km of hard work with three flat stages, two medium mountain stages, two uphill stages and a time trial. These are the details of the Tour de France Femmes, starting on Monday 12 August in Rotterdam, Netherlands, and ending on Sunday 18 August on the legendary Alpe d'Huez.

A week of battle between the great protagonists of women's cycling along a route that also features two half-stages, on the second day, dedicated to the sprinters and a 6.3 km individual time trial. Then it's off to Belgium to retrace the finale of the Liège-Bastogne-Liège after 122 km. The return to France will coincide with the sprint in Amnéville and, the next day, the arrival in Morteau with a rather challenging finale. The highlight will be Saturday 17 August with the Grand Bornard stage (an 8 km uphill finish with an average gradient of 4.7 percent) but above all the last day with the queen stage of 149.9 km. First the Col du Glandon (19.9 km at 7.2 percent) and then the Alpe d'Huez (14 km at 7.9%) which has made the history of men's cycling.

The favorite for the final success is, without a doubt, Demi Vollering , who is chasing a repeat after last year's victory. Her teammate (and rival) Lotte Kopecky is absent, but Sd Worx will still have Niamh Fisher-Black to help the captain and a stellar train (Vas, Bredewold and Majerus) for Lorena Wiebes, the big favorite for the points classification jersey. Fighting for the podium will be Katarzyna Niewiadoma, third in 2023, Gaia Realini of Lidl Trek, the French champion Juliette Labous, Evita Muzic and Riejanne Markus. Elisa Longo Borghini, winner of the last Giro d'Italia, will not be there due to a fall in training. Curiosity to find out what Neve Bradbury, Kim Cadzow and Mavi Garcia will be able to do for the general classification.

Also competing in the sprints will be Charlotte Kool, Elisa Balsamo and above all Marianne Vos, the queen of cycling who is also aiming for a couple of classic stages (see Liège).

Remember tonight's appointment, August 11, at 9 pm on the Fantacycling Instagram channel for the live broadcast of the Tour de France women with Ilenia Lazzaro, voice of women's cycling on Eurosport.
