Madeleine success, Vollering three minutes away
Pauline Ferrand-Prevot won the eighth stage of the Tour de France Femmes, 111.9 km from Chambéry to the Col de la Madeleine. France is going crazy for its queen.
The queen stage, which was obviously decided on the longest and toughest climb of the race, was decided by the Frenchwoman from Visma, along with Sarah Gigante. Gigante, however, dropped back eight kilometers from the finish line, leaving Ferrand-Prevot alone to catch the day's breakaway riders, Niamh Fisher Black and Yara Kastelijn, and take the win and the yellow jersey.
Giant slalom excellent second at almost two minutes, Demi Vollering loses over three minutes as does Kasia Niewiadoma.
Tomorrow is the last stage with more climbs.
