The Dane even trims 1'38" in Pogacar
Jonas Vingegaard wins stage seventeen of the Tour de France , the only individual time trial of this edition of the Grande Boucle. The Dane covered the 22.4 km from Passy to Combloux in 32'36” at an average speed of 41.2 km/h.
The reigning champion of the Tour already flies in the first two splits on the flat, gaining respectively 16" and 31" over Pogacar , who tries to overturn the fate of the time trial with a bike change on the uphill stretch. The choice doesn't pay off given that he even loses 1'38 at the finish line”.
On the podium of the stage Van Aert who finishes 2'51" from his teammate.
As for the fight for third place overall, Adam Yates smiles as he gains 24" on Rodriguez and overtakes him in the standings.
With this victory, Vingegaard secures his second consecutive success in the Tour de France thanks to the advantage of 1'48" he enjoys over Tadej Pogacar, who will have to go all out in the last two mountain stages he will have available.
