The Slovenian narrowly beats Van der Poel
Tadej Pogacar won the fourth stage of the Tour de Suisse , the 23.7km time trial starting and finishing in Aarburg. The Slovenian, who was increasingly leading the general classification , beat Mathieu Van der Poel by just four hundredths of a second , who was savoring his first individual time trial victory but ultimately fell short.
Pogacar won with a time of 26.37.99 at an average speed of 53.392 kilometres per hour .
Third place went to Tobias Foss , 6” behind, while fourth place went to Mathias Vacek , who dropped back towards the end after a very strong start.
Tadej Pogacar leads the overall standings with a 4:22 lead over Richard Carapaz and a 4:27 lead over Vacek. Andrea Bagioli , forty-fourth in the time trial, is holding his own, but is fourth overall at 4:46, while Brandon McNulty is fifth at 5:16.
Foss made a significant step forward in the standings, now in sixth place, 5'19" behind Pogacar.
