He had to wait almost three years but in the end he made it. Thibaut Pinot turned the tears of yesterday, when he had to surrender to Miguel Angel Lopez, into a beautiful smile thanks to the victory in the fifth and final stage of the Tour of the Alps, with start and finish in Lienz of 114.5 km.

Behind the Frenchman came David De La Cruz , also the protagonist of a long breakaway together with the Groupama rider, who returns to success after the Tourmalet stage of the Tour 2019.

The Tour of the Alps was won by Romain Bardet who detached Pello Bilbao on the last climb of the day. On the podium, together with the rider of Team DSM, also Michael Storer and Thymen Aresman. The Spaniard from Bahrain Victorius finished out of the top three.
