Wout Van Aert won the third stage of the Volta Algarve, from Vila Real de Santo Antonio to Tavira of 192.2 km. Daniel Martinez retains the lead in the general classification.
The stage consisted of a long breakaway by some unranked riders which was resumed less than 15km from the finish. In the final sprint, the Belgian from Team Visma took the win by overtaking Rui Oliveira of Uae and Marius Mayrhofer of Tudor.
Tomorrow there will be a decisive 22km time trial with Remco Evenepoel the big favourite.
