Alessandro Romele 's second-place finish in the fifteenth stage of the Vuelta España feels like a missed opportunity, even though the twenty-three-year-old Italian from Team Astana is becoming increasingly confident in his abilities: "The feeling was very good," Romele told Eurosport. "I tried to beat Wout to the intermediate sprint. I gave it my all and can be satisfied with myself. Finishing second behind a monster like Wout (Van Aert, ed.) can only be a great gift ."

Romele is making himself noticed in this Vuelta and he has a special person to thank for his growth:

“I think the thing I focused on most was my mentality. The team gave me the motivation to do well. I have to thank a special person from when I was little, who gave me a wake-up call recently and moved something inside me.”

Finally, the boy from Iseo is keen to make a dedication: “Dreaming big costs nothing, but whatever comes between now and the end of the Vuelta will be fine. I would have liked to dedicate the victory to a boy who lost his sister in a road accident , but I think this second victory will please Gioele and his sister Adele”:
