Retirement for Lennert Van Eetvelt
Sam Welsford (Ineos Grenadiers) wins stage three of the Tour Down Under, from Henley Beach to Nairne (140.8km).
The first news of the day is Van Eetvelt 's retirement due to the consequences of a crash yesterday.
From km 0 a three-man breakaway made up of Paleni , Veistroffer and Uriastand Bugge started, with the Norwegian from Uno X winning both category 3 mountain climbs and strengthening the climbers' jersey.
The three gained a maximum advantage of 2'30" with Paleni remaining alone in the lead in the final and only being caught in the last kilometer.
In the final sprint, the sprinters' teams struggled to organize a compact group; Ineos Grenadiers excelled at pulling away at the right time, with Swift perfectly leading Welsford , who returned to victory in his home race. Andresen took second, Bower third.
