The first stage of the 93.9 km Australian race, from Hahdhorf to Campbeltown, ends, as expected, with a sprint. The New Zealander from the AG Insurance-Soudal Team precedes the Australian Baker and the Italian Bertizzolo . Two other Italians in the top ten: Barale sixth and Paladin ninth.
