Route analysis and race favourites

One of the craziest races of the season, open to multiple solutions and with many possible protagonists. Even if this year the number one favorite is still him: Tadej Pogacar.

Let's go in order: on Sunday the Amstel Gold Race takes place, now in its 57th edition. From Maastricht to Berg en Terblijt, for a total of 253 km, the runners will have to face 33 walls: very short climbs, mostly with challenging slopes, within narrow streets full of curves with circuits to be completed several times . A selective and insidious path, especially if it were to rain.

Once again Pogacar will be the man to beat: after the victory in Flanders , the Slovenian is aiming for the races in the Ardennes with renewed enthusiasm. His teammates, especially Marc Hirschi and Matteo Trentin, seem to have their destiny sealed: to work for the captain.

However, there will be no shortage of fierce opponents: Ineos Grenadiers brings back last year's surprise winner, Michal Kwiatkowski, flanked by Thomas Pidcock and Magnus Sheffield. Beware of Ag2R which has Benoit Cosnefroy in excellent shape and a possible outsider like Dorian Godon, winner of the recent Brabant Arrow. The test of Soudal Quick Step, with Andrea Bagioli , Mauro Schmid and Remi Cavagna, and that of Jumbo Visma which seems to have Tiesj Benoot as leader with Attila Valter as second striker, are eagerly awaited. Groupama Fdj also lines up at least two names that can make the top 10: David Gaudu and Valentin Madouas , without forgetting Romain Grégoire.

Other interesting names for a good result include Sergio Higuita from Bora-hansgrohe, Lorenzo Rota from Intermarché Circus Wanty, Neilson Powless from Ef Education EasyPost, Bauke Mollema and Mattias Skjelmose from Trek Segafredo, Matej Mohoric from Bahrain Victorious, Axel Zingle from Cofidis, Movistar's Alex Aranburu, Team Jayco AlUla's Matteo Sobrero , Lotto Dstny's Andreas Kron, Israel Premier Tech's Simon Clarke, and Tudor Pro Cycling Team's Alexander Kamp.

Obviously space for surprises and revelations that will almost certainly place in the top 10: who will you bet on?
