Auvergne Rhône-Alpes: Del Toro, stage and race

Isaac del Toro won the eighth and final stage of the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes, 120.1 km from Beaufort to Plateau de Solaison-Brison. The Mexican conquered the French race.

On the day Paul Seixas was forced to retire due to the consequences of yesterday's crash, a breakaway began with Vauquelin, Carlos Rodriguez, Bisiaux, Valentin Paret Peintre, Steinhauser, Tejada, De Plus, and Braz Afonso. The peloton, however, didn't give up much of a lead, and they caught up with them on the final climb.

Here it is Del Toro who makes the difference while the general leader Luke Tuckwell definitively breaks away but does not definitively jump, and Jorgenson also goes into crisis.

Ayuso tries to react less than 5 km from the finish line but Del Toro is uncatchable: the UAE Emirates rider arrives only a minute ahead of Ayuso and Johannessen.

On the podium, alongside Del Toro, were a surprising Tuckwell and Ayuso.
