Cat.4 race: will it be flown or will someone surprise the group on the final stretches?
Tomorrow will open a period full of competitions and very delicate for Fantasy Cycling: in addition to the Bemer Cyclassic, next week the Renewi Tour will start, a short stage race in Belgium, and, above all, the Vuelta a Espana on August 26th.
Tomorrow's route seems to be designed for a group sprint, but there will be no shortage of altitude difficulties, especially between -24km and -16km from the finish in which the runners will have to face five walls in succession, including the Waseberg (0.7 km at 9.4%) twice; here those who want to try to anticipate the sprinters will have their chances to attack.
Thanks to the absence of Japser Philipsen, the number one favorite will be Mads Pedersen, fresh from fourth place in the world championship and a great Tour of Denmark.
There will be many fast wheels and their teams will do everything to keep the race closed until the last hundreds of metres; among these we remember Sam Bennet (Bora Hansgrohe), Groenewegen (Team Jayco Alula), Kooij (Jumbo Visma), Merlier (Soudal Quick Step), De Lie (Lotto Dstny) and Milan (Bahrain Victorius).
In addition to this group of sprinters who, on paper, appear to be favorites, we also point out a group of outsiders who could do well in the German classic: Hayter , captain of the Ineos Grenadiers, will want to put a complicated spring behind him in this season finale, our Alberto Bettiol who will try to repeat the great performance in the world championship, the landlord Walscheid and Quinten Hermans , third last year and leader of Alpecin-Deceunick.
