The Swiss surprises everyone, Gate and Pithie on the podium

Mauro Schmid won the ninth edition of the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race, a World Tour race held in Australia over the distance of 183.8 km.
The reigning Swiss champion surprised his opponents about 8 km from the finish line. The few seconds of advantage he had accumulated were enough to only reach the finish line in Geelong.
Behind him, just three seconds behind, Astana's Aaron Gate ruled out the chasing pack. Last year's winner Laurence Pithie also made it onto the podium, while Andrea Bagioli finished in fifth place.
