Vuelta: Johannessen beats Romele in final stage

Tobias Johannessen (Uno-X) wins the final stage of the Vuelta, 112 km long, starting and finishing in Granada.

After the usual celebrations and parades, the stage comes to life on the third-to-last lap of the final circuit, with 30 km to go. The neutralized times aren't a concern for the general classification, with the riders fighting solely for the stage victory.

As Groupama pushed forward on the Alto de l'Alhambra, a small group of nine riders broke away. On the penultimate climb, a large group of over 30 riders caught up with the leaders, while the general classification remained behind.

On the final pass of the Alhambra , Bilbao was the first to set off, but Laurance reacted and created a gap. On the subsequent descent, however, they managed to regroup with 10 men and go into a fight for the win.

Given Brennan 's presence, there are numerous attempts to get ahead: thus, the three remain in front at the decisive moment, with Johannessen beating Romele in the sprint by a whisker. Debruyne is 3rd.
