Mikel Landa (Soudal Quick Step) wins the twentieth stage of the Vuelta, from La Calahorra to Collado del Alguacil (186.8km).

The final, challenging stage was run at a frenetic pace , with many riders trying to break away: a group of fifteen men formed in the lead, with another forty chasing them.

On the many climbs of the day, both the group of escapees and that of the red jersey are thinned out: Johannessen , Landa and Debruyne remain in front, while behind Kuss attacks and gains several minutes on the top four in the general classification, while the others sink.

On the final climb, Landa managed to create a gap, while Kuss instead took advantage of the work of Van Aert and Nordhagen to even attack Carapaz 's position, who was man-marked by Gall and was unable to make the difference.

Landa gradually increases his lead and wins solo with class. Johannessen once again takes second place, while Debruyne finishes third.

Among the big names, Gall attacks at 3 km, with the Austrian also dropping Mas and going in search of 2nd place, with Roglic dropping back, but saving himself by just a few seconds.
