Ion Izagirre wins the Pantani Memorial

Ion Izagirre (Cofidis) wins the Memorial Pantani, a 1.1 km race from Riccione to Cesenatico, 191 km.

The race explodes on the final climbs of the course, with 15 riders managing to gain an advantage. With 45 km to go, Pellizzari pulls away and leads Storer , Honorè , and Izagirre .

The quartet approaches the last 35km on a completely flat surface with just over 1' on the main group, mainly led by Uno-X and Movistar .

The four exchanged positions regularly and managed to reach the final lap of the 4.5km circuit with a lead of over 40".

Honorè tries to get ahead of the sprint, but is stopped by Izagirre who, in the final sprint, gets the better of Pellizzari and Honorè.
