Jhonatan Narvaez suffered a serious injury after falling after just 3km during the 4th stage of the Tour Down Under and was forced to retire.

The UAE Team Emirates rider probably slipped on his own, after hitting the traffic island in the middle of the road, and immediately appeared to be in pain and immediately got into the team car.

Narvaez unfortunately suffered some compression fractures to his vertebrae and will therefore have to stay away from training for several weeks and could therefore have compromised the entire Classics season.
