After a difficult few years, the Colombian sprinter is trying to end his career on a high note.

Fernando Gaviria has signed a one-year contract with Caja Rural, a Spanish professional team.

The Colombian sprinter, after a difficult few years at Movistar, has decided to restart in a less pressured environment where he will play a central role in all sprints. Caja Rural is the ideal team to try and secure the final successes of his career, for a rider capable of winning over 50 races and still with a lofty goal: a hat-trick of Grand Tours.

Gaviria has in fact won 2 stages at the Tour and 5 at the Giro: his intentions are to try to participate in the 2026 Vuelta to achieve the hat-trick .

The 31-year-old hasn't shone in recent seasons: he hasn't won in two years, but the Colombian has still placed in several sprints, achieving some top ten finishes in the Giro and Tour in 2024, the year in which his last victory at the Tour of Colombia also dates back to (2.1). To find a victory in the WT, however, you have to go back to the fifth stage of the 2023 Tour de Romandie .
