Edison Alejandro Callejas (Petrolike) wins the third stage of the Giro di Abruzzo, from San Demetrio ne' Vestini to Roccaraso (160km).
The Colombian attacked with 8 km to go on the final climb leading to Roccaraso. None of his rivals responded to his attack, especially considering that Callejas was not a threat in terms of the general classification.
The Petrolike (continental team) rider thus triumphed alone , in a hostile climate with rain mixed with snow at the finish line. Zimmermann placed behind him, becoming the new leader of the general classification, while De la Cruz took the third step of the podium.
