Giro d'Italia, Stage 17: Valgren wins from the breakaway!

Michael Valgren wins the seventeenth stage of the Giro d'Italia, from Cassano d'Adda to Andalo (202 km).

Cavagna tries to escape from a 29-rider breakaway with a long-range solo attack.
The Frenchman was caught by the other escapees with 60 km to go, close to the intermediate sprint won by Narvaez who took back the cyclamen jersey.

On the continuous ups and downs, the breakaway splits into two groups, while the pink jersey group gives the attackers space and controls them at 6'.

On the Leves climb, Rubio takes advantage of Valgren ; from behind, Caruso, Vlasov, Arrieta and Leknessund try to chase, while Ciccone and Narvaez are cut off from the victory.

In the final 2 km, the situation regroups with six men in the lead; Caruso tries, but Valgren has the better timing and takes the win alone. Leknessund takes 2nd, Caruso 3rd.
