Final success of Annemiek Van Vleuten
Chiara Consonni (Uae Team Adq) won the ninth and final stage of the women's Giro d'Italia, starting in Sassari and finishing in Olbia after 126 km.
The athlete from Bergamo beat Marianne Vos (Jumbo Visma) and Ally Wollaston (Lidl Trek) in the sprint.
The corsa rosa was won for the fourth time, the second in a row, by Annemiek Van Vleuten . The world champion thus climbs to the top step of the podium ahead of Juliette Labous and Gaia Realini . In the top 10 also Erica Magnaldi, fifth, and Silvia Persico, eighth.
Applause, at the beginning and at the end of the stage, for Marta Bastianelli who leaves cycling. In his palmares 44 victories including a world title, two Europeans and a Tour of Flanders.
