The 2026 Giro d'Italia will officially start from Bulgaria .

The announcement, made a few minutes ago, by Urbano Cairo , who confirmed the news leaked in recent weeks, affirming the importance of a departure abroad: "We are pleased to continue our collaboration with foreign countries that always welcome us." "The Giro ," he continued, "is an ambassador for Italy around the world, and making it known to other nations has, without a doubt, a positive impact on our region."

The Giro d'Italia will therefore start from abroad for the third time in the last four editions , after Hungary in 2022 and Albania in 2024.

There will presumably be three stages in Bulgaria, with the likely involvement of the capital Sofia, although at the moment there is no confirmation either of the host cities or of the respective routes.
