The young American will change his plans in 2024
The talent is there and his career is yet to be written, but Magnus Sheffield wants to amaze right from the start. The American, 21 years old, from the Ineos Grenadiers team, has already won an important race in his career, the Brabant Arrow in 2022 and last season, he placed second in the Tour Down Under. This year, however, Sheffield is aiming hard at the Giro d'Italia , to grow further: “This will be an excellent year to understand what Magnus is capable of doing – the sporting director of the British team Oliver Cookson told Velo – In the program there is participation in a grand tour, which would be the first of his career. He is fine and in excellent shape.
He is a very intelligent, polite and very determined boy – he continued Cookson – He knows what he wants and is progressing in the right way.”
Sheffield costs £14 million at Fantacycling and could be a rider capable of securing capital gains over the course of the season. At the Giro d'Italia the designated captain of the Ineos Grenadiers should be the experienced Geraint Thomas , but that doesn't mean the young Magnus won't be able to carve out his own space.
