Another second place for Van Aert
Christophe Laporte won the men's European road racing championship today in Holland.
On the finish of the Col du Vam near Drenthe, after 199.8 km, the French rider preceded Wout Van Aert and Olav Kooij .
The decisive action began 24km from the finish line with ten riders taking a decent lead: Van Aert, De Lie, Pedersen, Kooij, Kron, Laporte, Dujardin, Teunissen, Degenkolb and Tiller. Italy lost the good moment thanks to a fall by Filippo Ganna who never returned to the fugitives.
Laporte attempted the solitary action at -10 and then won by a whisker over Van Aert in comeback and Kooij (all Jumbo Visma riders).
