The Slovenian arrives alone, with Bagioli and Roglic on the podium
Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates) won Il Lombardia 2023, the last monument classic of the season starting from Como and arriving in Bergamo after 238 km.
After the breakaway that started from the first kilometres, with second rate runners, the big names move onto the Ganda Pass: Pogacar, Adam and Simon Yates, Carapaz, Vlasov, Rodriguez, Roglic and an excellent Andrea Bagioli remain in front while Mas retires and Evenepoel, who fell at the start of the race, breaks away.
Pogacar goes downhill and despite the cramps manages to maintain a good lead until the finish line where he arrives with his arms raised for the third consecutive year. Behind him, with a delay of 51 seconds, Bagioli beats Roglic in the sprint. Evenepoel finishes ninth with a comeback.
