The former world champion will close his season with the gravel world championship

Mathieu Van der Poel has concluded his road season , despite several rumours that he would start Il Lombardia on October 12th.
The less demanding route , without Muro and Civiglio, had led to the hypothesis of a possible participation of the Dutch rider in the Classic of the Dead Leaves .
Van der Poel himself denied these rumours, declaring that the last monument of the season had never been in his plans, despite a route more suited to his characteristics.
The former world champion will conclude his 2024 with the gravel world championship scheduled for October 6 in Belgium, and then, presumably, focus on cyclocross in the winter.
