Silver to Pippo Ganna, surprise bronze to the British Tarling
Remco Evenpoel wins the world individual time trial covering the 47.8 km of the Stirling course in 55'19" at an average speed of 51.8 km/h.
At the first split Ganna is ahead of Evenepoel by 4” and by 6” on Tarling.
The Belgian born in 2000 responds to the second chronometric detection by putting his head forward by 12" on Ganna and a good 25" on Tarling.
At the last split it is now clear that the challenge for first place is between the blue and Evenepoel , with the latter just over 10” ahead. The final tear is more congenial to the characteristics of the Belgian who manages to increase the margin and win with 12”. Silver to Pippo Ganna , surprise bronze for the very young Tarling , born in 2004.
Among the favourites, however, Pogacar and Van Aert disappoint , perhaps tried by the fatigue of Sunday's road race: the Belgian finishes 49" away from the podium while the Slovenian is even caught up by Ganna during the race and finishes 2'18" from third place . Even the Swiss Kung does not confirm the good impressions given in the online test and concludes in 12th place.
The former world champion is also very bad ditch which confirms his negative season: the 2022 Wollogong winner pays 2'17” from Evenepoel.
