The Slovenian: "I see myself at my best for at least four seasons"

Primoz Roglic starts fueling for the new season. With a view to discovering his quotation for the 2023 Fantacycling , the Slovenian has overcome the shoulder surgery he underwent after the bad crash in the Vuelta and will participate in the training period with the Jumbo Visma team in Denia, Spain.

At the moment there is still a veil of mystery about Roglic's goals for the season, but the feeling is that the calendar will be defined, more or less, on the occasion of the team's second meeting, scheduled for January.

“I had a much longer break at the end of the season than usual, but sometimes a different approach can give good results. 2023 could be a season in which it will be difficult to set goals for spring and in which I could give my best in the following months. - said Roglic to WielerFlits - The Giro d'Italia ? I'd love to go back, but I have to recover 100 percent first. I fear that it may come too soon in this regard. It will depend on how hard I can train first. These months are flying by and now I have to ask myself if I can be at the start of the Giro at my maximum level or if it would be wiser to take more time and prepare better for the Tour de France . I definitely want to go back, my first wish will be to be able to get to Paris. After the last few editions, I have to go back to basics and think about the first possible goal. But then I will want to compete for the top positions. The next edition will be special, with Jonas Vingegaard wearing the number 1 on his back and my team having to defend the title they just won. I'd like to be there.

I can still win. I see myself riding at the top level for at least 4 more seasons. Valverde, Nibali, they have achieved great things in an advanced age, why couldn't I do it? I still enjoy cycling, hard workouts are no sacrifice and I have no problem working towards a set goal. The spark of wanting to get the most out of my career is still there.

I prefer to look at the things I can do to improve and get back to my best. If I feel old compared to Evenepoel? You feel old when you go much slower than young people. If I can get back in shape, I don't think I'll notice the age difference."
