Fall at the end, Carapaz in the yellow jersey

Biniam Girmay wins the third stage of the 2024 Tour de France from Piacenza to Turin of 230.8 km.

We arrive in the sprint, as planned, but with six kilometers to go Mathieu Van der Poel and then in the last two kilometers there is a bad fall that cuts out several sprinters, including Philipsen .

A small group of sprinters arrives; Pedersen launches the sprint after Stuyven 's work, but in the last meters the Dane loses power and Girmay overtakes him in a big way. The Eritrean eventually finished ahead of Gaviria and De Lie , with Pedersen having to settle for fourth place.

Carapaz arrives in the first group and is the new leader of the general classification. Pogacar, in fact, remained in the second group after the fall and was thus overtaken by the EF rider.
