Jay Vine takes victory over Jhonatan Narvaez

UAE Team Emirates XRG secured a double victory in the second stage of the Tour Down Under. At the end of the 148km Norwood-Uraidla, Jay Vine was the first to celebrate, ahead of teammate Jhonatan Narvaez. The Australian is the new leader of the general classification.

Behind them, almost a minute behind, was Mauro Schmid of Jayco AlUla, ahead of Andreas Kron of Uno X and Filippo Zana in the Soudal Quick Step jersey. Another Italian, Matteo Sobrero of Red Bull Bora hansgrohe, finished eighth.

In the overall standings, Vine leads Narvaez by 6 seconds and Schmid by 1'05".

"I've been thinking about this jersey since the last time I wore it. I love this jersey, it was nice to win it on such a tough stage. We're in a good position with me and Jhony [Narváez] and with Adam [Yates] behind, having him guide us was fantastic," Vine said after the race.
