Another UAE success, Scaroni first among the Italians
Adam Yates wins the first edition of the 170.9km Textile and Fashion Trophy from Valdengo to Oropa. The British rider from Team UAE makes the decisive move on the final climb to Oropa , finishing ahead of Frenchman Mathys Rondel (Tudor).
The day's breakaway was caught right at the start of the final climb, with the last to give in being the Uruguayan Silva (Casa Rural).
The first UAE rider to attack was Jay Vine , with Rondel immediately closing in on his wheel. Then Sivakov attempted to break away, and the Frenchman from Tudor was the only one to follow. Then Rondel attacked, and Sivakov didn't have the legs to follow; Adam Yates attacked from behind, quickly closing in on Rondel.
Behind, Sivakov is joined by Chumil (Burgos) and Scaroni (Astana), as well as Vine.
The Australian attempted an attack to rejoin the leading pair, but moved too late and had to settle for third place. Up front, Adam Yates pulled away in the final two hundred meters and took the win ahead of Rondel.
Fourth place went to Scaroni, the first of the Italians, and fifth place went to Guatemalan rider Sergio Chumil.
