Lorena Wiebes (Team SD Worx - Protime) wins the first stage of the UAE Tour Women, from Al Mirfa to MAdinat Zayed, 111 km.

After a relatively hectic central phase, with a few sprints, the stage calms down in the second part, with the group proceeding at a moderate speed towards a compact sprint .

SD Worx worked their lineup perfectly, with Wiebes coming out at the right time near the barriers and winning by a landslide. Gillespie and Backstedt made the podium today.

Tomorrow is the second stage with another likely sprint finish.
