The Canadian had terminated his contract with Israel Premier Tech in 2025.
Derek Gee is officially a Lidl Trek rider . This brings to an end the saga of the Canadian rider who last season unilaterally terminated his contract with Israel Premier Tech , with whom he had started a €30 million dispute. Gee has signed a contract with Lidl Trek until 2028 : “It’s really special to join Lidl-Trek,” said the Canadian. “Even from the outside, you can see that this is an organization that operates at a level very close to the standard of excellence in our sport, and that really attracted me. The ambition, the structure, and the depth of talent within the team are impressive, and It seems like the right environment for the next phase of my career.
I'm looking forward to competing with shared ambitions and diverse options within the team. Lidl-Trek has world-class riders in so many areas of the sport, and being part of a group where we can play different cards in stage races and Grand Tours is something new for me. I'm excited to learn from this, to continue growing as a GC rider, and to see what we can achieve together in the coming years."
