Dutchman triumphs in cyclocross in Namur
Mathieu Van der Poel wins immediately. On his return to cyclocross racing, the Dutch champion dominates the World Cup race in Namur .
Van der Poel managed the effort well in the early stages and then attacked on the third-to-last lap. A mistake by Thibau Nys gave the Dutchman a chance, and he pulled away on the final lap to claim his twenty-second career cyclocross World Cup victory.
Nys still finished in second place, 9" behind, while Michael Vanthourenhout finished third, 11" behind. Lars Van der Haar came in fourth behind him. Mattia Agostinacchio also put in an excellent performance, finishing 13th, while his brother Filippo Agostinacchio placed 29th . Another Italian, Stefano Viezzi, finished 31st.
