The Dane comments on the finale of the third stage of La Vuelta
David Gaudu surprised everyone in the finale of the third stage of the Vuelta a Ceres, beating the main favorites. Among them was Jonas Vingegaard , yesterday's winner and leader of the general classification: "At the last corner, David surprised us and passed us with that explosive entry," said Vingegaard. "It was a bold move, but that's cycling. Did I think I could win? No, Mads Pedersen is incredibly strong, and I didn't feel capable of staying ahead of him. In the final moments, I really struggled to stay on his wheel."
The Dane from Visma Lease a Bike, however, retained the red jersey as leader of the general classification and demonstrated significant improvement in finishes suited to more explosive riders. Tomorrow will be a "semi-Alpine" stage that could present further challenges and spectacle: "It's difficult to make predictions about the fourth stage," said Vingegaard. "It will depend a lot on how the race unfolds, who will be in the breakaway, and what the sprinters' teams want to do. One thing is certain, though: I won't relinquish the Red Jersey so easily."
