Dani Martinez (BORA Hansgrohe) wins the second stage of the Volta ao Algarve starting from Lagoa and arriving uphill on the Alto da Fóia (171.9km).

For the entire final ascent the group is towed by the men of Soudal Quick Step. However, no one manages to make a difference even due to the strong headwind.

The stage is therefore decided by a sprint between about ten runners: the first to start is Evenepoel , but Daniel Martinez responds promptly and beats him in the last hundred metres. Behind them Kuss placed third.

Martinez also takes the lead in the general classification. Tomorrow third stage of the Portuguese race suitable for fast wheels.
