Slovenian gains 56" in ranking. Joao Almeida crisis

Primoz Roglic (Red Bull BORA Hansgrohe) wins the 159km eighth stage of the Vuelta from Ubeda to Cazorla.

After several attempts, the breakaway of the day manages to form with Oomen, Vergallito, Lazkano, Schmid, Le Berre, Izagirre and Tejada. The seven arrive at a maximum margin of almost 6', but from Puerto Mirador de las Palomas Israel Premier Tech begins to shoot and significantly reduces the disadvantage.

Vergallito , Tejada and Lazkano , who started from the breakaway, approached the final climb with a 1'10" advantage over the red jersey group.

Roglic immediately attacks in one of the hardest sections and selects the group a lot: all the best remain except Almeida, in crisis, and Vlasov, who fell. The Slovenian extends his lead twice more, at the third attempt O'Connor gives in and Roglic resumes the escape in the company of Mas .

The two played for the victory in the sprint with Roglic easily beating the Spaniard and winning the eighth stage. Landa closed the podium about ten seconds behind, while O'Connor paid 45" at the finish line.

Tiberi is in fourth place, while UAE Team Emirates collapses with Almeida's crisis and with A.Yates losing further ground.
