The Dane precedes Ciccone and is the new leader

Jonas Vingegaard won the second stage of the Vuelta, 159km from Alba to Limone Piemonte.

The day's breakaway with Gal Glivar, Jakub Otruba, and Liam Slock caught at the start of the final climb, and the battle for the stage win among the strongest riders begins.

Giulio Ciccone sprinted in the final 500 meters, but Vingegaard overtook him at the finish line and took the win. The Dane is the new leader of the overall standings. Antonio Tiberi fared poorly, losing 21 seconds.

Fears of a crash, aided by the rain, saw several riders fall, including a good portion of Visma. Everyone restarted. Guillaume Martin, however, lost the Vuelta, again due to another crash.
