Laurenz Rex was forced to withdraw from the Alla Tour. The Belgian from Soudal Quick-Step was involved in a crash on a descent in the Saudi Arabian stage race and, despite managing to finish the race, was unable to start the fourth stage.

The first post-stage medical tests revealed a physical problem for the rider. According to the team, Rex suffered three fractures to the spinous processes of his spine .

“Laurenz is in stable condition, but will need several weeks of rest before he can begin the physical recovery process,” Soudal Quick Step said in an official statement.
