Giulio Ciccone wins the final stage of the Vuelta Burgos, finishing on the tough climb of Lagunas de Neila.

The Lidl-Trek rider once again proved to be the strongest on the climbs, going away in the company of Del Toro , just like in San Sebastian last week.

Ciccone then dropped the Mexican in the final kilometer and won the stage by 9 seconds. Third place, 26 seconds behind, went to Fortunato , who also showed he had excellent form for the Vuelta. Pellizzari, on the other hand, finished in the small group with Bernal, 36 seconds behind.

In the overall standings, Del Toro thus overtook Bisiaux, the leader until now, and won the race ahead of Fortunato. Ciccone paid the price for his crash in the first stage at the end when the judges hadn't neutralized his time.
