The team responds with an official statement
The homes of some riders and Team Bahrain Victorious staff were raided by police today, just days before the start of the 2022 Tour de France . The team issued a statement expressing that the situation “damages the reputation of individuals and Team Bahrain Victorious. Due to the recent investigations, the team believes that the timing of this investigation is intended to intentionally damage the team's reputation . " These searches, the team continues, "represent a continuation of the investigation process started during the team's successful performance at last year's Tour de France". During the 2021 Tour, he had already undergone searches that had not led to any results and on which the team has never been updated.
“Shortly after the investigation - continues the statement - the investigators illegally provided information on the seized objects, on the basis of which an article was published in a professional medical journal. The newspaper claimed the team did not possess illicit drugs. However, this behavior of the investigators calls into question the credibility of the investigation , given that information from the French authorities has reached the media. Conversely, the team hasn't received any updates.
After nearly a year of unsuccessful efforts by the team to obtain further information, investigators have decided on new investigations just days before the start of the most important cycling race, which undoubtedly casts a shadow over its purpose. The team has always collaborated in a completely transparent way with all the competent institutions and will continue to do so in the future, with the hope of greater transparency and a greater sense of independence of the investigators, as well as equal treatment of all teams ”.
