At the age of 19 he's already being watched special: here's what races he'll be doing in 2023
While Bora hansgrohe has defined the 2023 program for some of its big names (Vlasov and Kamna in the Giro, Hindley and Buchmann in the Tour), there is a little boy who will be talked about a lot during the next season on whom the German team is betting strongly since immediately.
We're talking about Cian Uijtdebroeks , winner of the 2022 Tour de l'Avenir, who has already made his pro debut this year with respectable results including a podium at the Sibiu Tour and an eighth place at the Tour of Norway.
He is only 19 years old , but in a recent interview with Rtbf, he has already spoken 'grown up' about which big stage tour he could contest: "I could add one-week races at World Tour level like Catalunya or maybe the Dauphiné, and see if it is possible to fight for the general classification. And then there is the question of whether or not we will do a Grand Tour at the end of the season..If I do it will be the Vuelta. I will not do the Tour de France yet. Certainly not with the route of this year. And not even the Giro !".
Uijtdebroeks, considered the rising star of Belgian cycling in stage races, dreams of wearing the yellow jersey at the Tour de France from a very young age, but first he will have to continue his apprenticeship, surrounded by excellent riders: "I've already learned a lot, but I have to still learning how to use my teammates well. At the beginning I tried to fight alone for the placement, but it's impossible. You have to be in a good position, but your teammates can't take you by the hand and say: 'Come on Cian , follow us now'".
The baby phenomenon costs only 5 fantamillions: a golden opportunity right away or is it better to wait for the confrontation with the big names?
