Less business and many economic problems: here are the main changes
Few movements, a couple of new teams and, unfortunately, the departure of some teams. A particularly complicated cycle market this season for Professional teams, who have had to deal with economic difficulties, major changes to their goals and relegations from the World Tour that continue to cause discussion.
Gazprom, Drone Hopper and B&B Hotels lost along the way, Bolton, Team Corratec and two new formations arrived: the Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team and the Tudor Pro Cycling Team , both with the aim of growing and training new talents.
The first, in which Vincenzo Nibali works as image man, will have among others Jack Bauer, Gianluca Brambilla, Filippo Conca, Tom Devriendt , Alessandro Fedeli, Carl Hagen and Tobias Ludvigsson, while the second, chaired by Fabian Cancellara, will count on Tom Bohli , Alexander Kamp , Simon Pellaud, Sebastien Reichenbach and Joel Suter.
The only significant movement was the passage of former world champion Alexander Kristoff from Intermarché to Uno-X, a Norwegian team that stood out in 2022 both in the classics and in the short stage races.
Two great disappointments of last year, Israel and Lotto, remain with many big names to which a few grafts have been added: the team of Froome and Fugslang has taken Stephen Williams from Bahrain and Nick Schultz from the Bike Exchange after having sold Alessandro De Marchi (precisely at the Bex as well as Biermans and Bevin).
The Lotto of Caleb Ewan and Arnaud De Lie closed the market with Jacopo Guarnieri , last man of the two sprinters coming from Groupama, Eduardo Sepulveda from Drone Hopper and Pascal Eenkhoorn from Jumbo Visma. Instead, Steff Cras at Total Energies, Harm Van Houcke at DSM and Tim Wellens at UAE, without forgetting the withdrawal of Philippe Gilbert, perhaps the hardest blow for the Belgian team.
Little or nothing new for Peter Sagan's Total Energies, who lost Cras, Niccolò Bonifazio who finished at Intermarché, and Cristian Rodriguez at Arkea, as well as Niki Terpstra who ended his career.
Finally, some jokes about the Italians: the sprinter Matteo Malucelli at Bingoal, Mattia Bais and the confirmation of Davide Piganzoli at Eolo (who lost Diego Rosa who switched to mountain biking), Valerio Conti and Alexander Konychev at Corratec should be mentioned.
Finally, Bardiani took on seven new professionals but said goodbye to Filippo Zana , destination Bike Exchange. The same conclusion that two historical figures of the Reverberi team could see as protagonists: Sacha Modolo and Enrico Battaglin, left without a contract for 2023.
