How many points did the time trial specialists score in 2022
In planning the squad for the Fantacycling season it will also be important to balance the number of pure time trialists to have in the team . There are those who opt to buy riders who can offer bonuses on multiple terrains, taking a few more risks, and those who are looking for safe spots, especially in the grand tours.
The choice of one or the other strategy is especially important in the championship mode, where certain points can sometimes be more attractive.
To help you design your teams, we have a 2022 ranking of pure time trialists (therefore excluding multi-purpose riders, but still very strong in time trials, such as Evenepoel and Van Aert), but including other riders who could give you other bonuses on different terrains, but mostly they do it in time trials.
Among the runners with the "time trial" skill in our app we find Kung and Hayter, authors of 2343 and 1872 points respectively . These two riders, however, are capable of picking up points on other terrains as well, such as the classics, week-long rides and sprints (in Hayter's case). Above all, the young Briton has the potential to significantly raise his bonus share in the 2023 season.
Another racer who can collect bonuses is McNulty ; the American can rank in the short stage races, but also in the grand tours, up until now, however, he has collected most of his time trial points: in 2022 he scored 829.
We also expect more from Filippo Ganna , who certainly didn't experience his best season, dropping his performances even in the time trial, the specialty in which he is strongest. The 803 points of 2022 are decidedly few for his potential .
626 points is instead the total of bonuses achieved by Rohan Dennis , who with the transfer to Jumbo has increased his duties as a follower, limiting the possibility of time trial bonuses.
Reasoning that also applies to Cavagna , a quality rider who can also take bonuses in attacks from afar, but in 2022 he was decidedly opaque: only 474 points for the Frenchman, who often disappointed, even in the time trial.
Affini too , like Dennis, is a rider who often works for the team and the occasions to seek personal glory are above all the time trials. In 2022 he scored 420 points, but given that his price shouldn't be so high, it could be a good low-cost shot to consider in view of next season.
