Bardet second, Van der Poel third

Tadej Pogacar won the 110th edition of the Liège-Bastogne-Liège, run today over a distance of 254.5 km.

After the escape in the morning of nine men, including Christian Scaroni, resumed after half the route, an inconsequential fall broke up the group. After a long chase, Van der Poel, Pidcock and around forty riders rejoin the leading group. All calm until the Redoute when Pogacar leaves, leaving nothing to be desired. Carapaz tries to hold onto his wheel but can't.

The Slovenian immediately took a 1' lead and was never caught again while behind him Romain Bardet managed to make the difference on the climb and pulled away from his opponents. Pogacar thus wins his second career Liege (and sixth career Monument) ahead of an excellent Bardet who finishes 1'30". Van der Poel finishes third, in a comeback, in the bunch sprint.
