Rondel was detached in the final, Scaroni finished fifth
Remco Evenepoel had a positive start to the season. The Belgian, riding for Red Bull Bora hansgrohe, won the Andratx-Pollenca Trophy, raced today on the streets of Mallorca. Yesterday, after a long, solo breakaway, he won the Serra Tramuntana Trophy (and two days ago, the Ses Salines team time trial).
At the end of the 121.5km course, which was shortened by almost 30km due to strong winds at the start of the race, Evenepoel was just a handful of seconds ahead of Tudor's Mathys Rondel, the last to hold his wheel before breaking away on the final climb before the finish line.
Third place went to another Red Bull, Maxim Van Gils, ahead of Antonio Morgado of UAE Emirates, and Christian Scaroni of Astana.
