The athlete underwent surgery in recent days

Bad news for Giacomo Nizzolo.

The 34-year-old rider who just moved to Q36.5 underwent surgery in recent days at the Kantonsspital Graubünden in Chur, Switzerland, due to a fractured tibia suffered in training.

Commenting on the situation, Lorenz Emmert, head doctor of the Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team, explained: “On December 23rd Giacomo Nizzolo had an accident with a fracture of the tibial plateau of his right leg. He underwent surgery and was released from the hospital. The healing and rehabilitation process has already begun. We are very optimistic that we will get him back to his usual level of performance within the next few months, as soon as the injury allows."

Nizzolo will not participate in the next Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team training camp in Calpe, Spain, scheduled for January 11-22. Recovery times are still uncertain.
