The Red Bull rider opens the gap, Bernal does well, Vlasov breaks away

Giulio Pellizzari wins the fifth and final stage of the 2026 Tour of the Alps , 128.6 km from Trento to Bolzano . The Italian rider put in a powerful performance on the final climb, leaving everyone behind to reach the finish line alone, also taking the overall classification, his first career stage race victory.

The stage began with a breakaway of a small group of riders including yesterday's winner, Lennart Jasch (Tudor), Tom Pidcock with his Pinarello Q 36.5 teammate Mark Donovan, Vicente Rojas (Bardiani), Koen Bouwman (Jayco AlUla), Niccolo Garibbo (Team Ukyo), Sam Oomen (Lidl Trek), Marton Dina (MBH Bank), Juan Felipe Rodriguez (EF).

Then, on the Montoppio climb, Tom Pidcok attacked, followed by Colombian Rodriguez; everyone else lost contact, except Marton Dina, who stayed a few meters behind the two leaders, but then broke away.

At the breakaway of the Montoppio climb, Pidcock and Rodriguez have a thirty-second advantage over the group led by leader Giulio Pellizzari, which includes Arensman, Bernal, Storer, Vlasov, O'Connor, Rondel, Omrzel, Harper and Cepeda, but not Gaffuri , fifth in the general classification (15” behind Pellizzari), who loses contact.

On the Cologna climb, Rodriguez remained alone in the lead, but the group came back and caught up with him 4.6 km from the summit, under the pressure of the Red Bull Bora, with Giovanni Aleotti setting the pace.

With 2.3 km to go , Giulio Pellizzari attacked and remained alone in the lead; Arensman and Bernal tried to follow, but were unable to keep up with the Italian.

Bernal didn't give up and even overtook his Ineos teammate, who was followed by a strong Storer. In the final intermediate sprint, Pellizzari took first, Bernal second, and then Storer third, with Arensman appearing to be struggling more but managing to stay with the other two.

Pellizzari then charged downhill towards the finish line and won the stage and the overall classification . Bernal then took second place, sprinting ahead of his teammate Arensman and Storer.

The first four to cross the finish line in Bolzano lead the overall standings, with Rondel taking fifth place.
