As soon as the 2023 season ended we analyzed the top 10 of the best riders on Fantacycling based on the points obtained during the course of the year.

In 1st place is Tadej Pogacar with 6757 points obtained thanks above all to 17 seasonal victories including Flanders, Lombardy, Amstel, Flèche Vallone and Paris-Nice as well as numerous placings including second place at the Tour and fourth at the Sanremo .

Behind the Slovenian we find Vingegaard , winner of the Tour de France , with 6028 points. For the Dane we also highlight the triumphs in the Dauphiné, in the Basque Country and the 2nd place in the Vuelta.

Evenepoel closes the podium , with 5913 points, thanks to his successes at the UAE Tour, Liège, San Sebastian and the world time trial. The Belgian disappointed expectations regarding the rankings in the grand tours, however, obtaining many fantasy points thanks to two stage victories in the Giro and three in the Vuelta.

Fourth and fifth position for two Jumbo-Visma riders: Roglic (5260 points) and Van Aert (4336 points). The former didn't race a lot, but achieved exceptional results in every race: 1st in the Giro d'Italia, 1st in the Tirreno-Adriatico, 1st in the Catalunya, 3rd in the Vuelta and 3rd in the Lombardia. The Belgian, however, is unable to shake off the label of eternal second: only one notable success (E3 Saxo) and many placings including 2nd place at the World and European Championships, 3rd place at Sanremo and Roubaix , as well as three stage podiums at the Tour.

Season above expectations for Adam Yates (4053 points), Pedersen (3866 points) and Joao Almeida (3394 points). For the Briton, the successes at Romandie and Montreal and the podium at the Tour stand out; Pedersen gets the bulk of the fantasy points thanks to his consistency in the northern campaign, albeit without any significant victories, and a good performance in the Giro and Tour; Almeida, on the other hand, had a solid season in stage races with podiums in the Giro, Catalunya, Tirreno-Adriatico and Polonia.

9th place for the best sprinter of 2023 : Jasper Philipsen with 3046 points. The Belgian places himself in first place in the victories ranking with 19 seasonal successes, but often in smaller races and outside the World Tour. From a Fantacycling perspective we underline the three stages won and the green jersey at the Tour de France.

The top ten is closed by Mathieu Van der Poel (3041 points), 2023 world champion. In addition to the world championship triumph, the Dutch phenomenon takes home two monuments such as Sanremo and Roubaix and second place in Flanders. He pays something in terms of fantasy points compared to the other riders as he has obtained very few results in the grand tours.

The best Italians are very far from the top ten: 20th Ciccone with 2009 points, 21st Ganna with 1981 points and 34th Caruso with 1574 points.
